You might remember I did a newspost about this a long time ago, and there was a forum post about it (hi Jon) and basically the deal is that a plane on a conveyor belt easily takes off because what's moving the plane is the jet engine or propellor or whatever. I mean think about a pontoon plane taking off from water, it's basically the same thing.
What annoys me is like there was actually some kind of dispute about this. I mean, dudes on the internet I even respect like John Gruber got it wrong.
