So "datamoshing" is kind of a retarded term for a pretty neat digital effect that's been showing up in some music videos lately. Basically it's making use of digital compression artifacts on purpose. Kottke has a post about it with links to a Kanye West video and a Chairlift video that both use it. In both cases it's pretty interesting. I mean it has the potential to just be super gimmicky, but the way they both use it to sort of almost show you stuff and then take it away works pretty well.
